Over the next few months, ERP will be spending time in Kekana Gardens, adjacent to Dinokeng Game Reserve were are planning on poverty alleviation interventions to benefit the local communities. This is in line with the ERP strategy, where the conservation of elephants and rhinos is implemented together with poverty alleviation strategies that target communities next to these conservation areas. In this instance, our community intervention has been brought about by our involvement within the Dinokeng Game Reserve, thereby creating a direct nexus to conservation of elephants and rhinos. There is a great deal of impact we can bring to this community, from educational interventions in the local schools to the beeline fencing, waste management right through to making a difference in the lives of orphans within the community. Already, we have trained 10 unemployed youth in the beeline fencing intervention. We will be adding more updates in the days to come.
